Two men and a woman from Puna were charged Thursday with numerous offenses stemming from a kidnapping incident that occurred earlier in the week in upper Puna.
On Monday,officers responded to the Hilo Medical Center where a 25-year-old woman reported that she and her three children, ages 4, 6 and 8, were held against their will for several days at a Mountain View home before they escaping to another residence where medics were summoned and they were eventually taken to the hospital.
The woman identified her estranged boyfriend and father of the children plus a man and a woman as the suspects in this case. The victims were treated and released for minor injuries sustained during the ordeal.
On Thursday, 30-year-old Israel Allen Chapson of Mountain View was charged with four counts of kidnapping, two counts each of felony domestic abuse and third-degree promotion a dangerous drug, and one count each of marijuana possession and drug paraphernalia. His bail has been set at $251,000.
Also charged Thursday were Chevy Iaukea and Joseph Soares, both 29 and of Mountain View, with four counts of kidnapping. They are both being held in lieu of $200,000 bail.
All have court dates this afternoon in Hilo District Court.
